Half Life 2 has become a great benchmark to use for 3D Performance, it also uses a lot of processing power too so it is excellent for processor reviews. In this test we just use the basic benchmark test that comes with Counterstrike: Source, this runs a quick test dependant on what you setup, with this one we went with quite high settings.

As you can see, the Athlon 64 flies through this test without any problems what so ever. The performance of in-game action across each platform was also tested and the Athlon 64 4000 really showed how good a performer it was. In saying this we do have the fantastic Crucial X850 XT Graphics card in our main review machine so the gaming tests were always going to be high, but you can see the slight increases across the processors.
