Missed this from a few days ago, but PlanetXBox has posted up a preview of the upcoming game, Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Here is a snippet of the preview and some screenshots:
There are a lot of choices to make, each affecting how your character will interact with the game world. Various races offer different advantages and disadvantages, as do base professions. "I play a Redguard, [a buccaneer character type] because I prefer quick action and combat, and they're the best at it," says Project Leader Todd Howard. "I actually think the Khajiits [tiger people] are the coolest. They move differently, have tails, and some cool powers like the Eye of Fear that makes other run away from them." Bethesda claims that Morrowind offers more than 500 spells and magical abilities in the game. There's also a wide range of skills, which puts a unique spin on character evolution. Instead of leveling up or gaining experience points from killing monsters, your skills improve through continued use.
Combat and combat training makes you better at whatever weapon you're using. Sneaking around will grant you an improved stealth score and simply walking around, or swimming, will improve your athletics' skill. Casting spells increases your magic abilities, and so on. The result could be a completely different character than the one you thought you were making at the beginning of the game.
