Reload The Registry

If you would like to reset the Registry only, press Ctrl+Alt+Del, select Explorer and click on End Task. Wait for 30 seconds. Since Windows can't work with Explorer shut down, it will reload the registry as well as the taskbar.

Log Off User

The Log Off User option is probably the best choice to close down all programs quickly and restart. Log in as the same user again and you are back in business.

Restart Windows Only

This is one of the undocumented tips in Windows. Instead of restarting the whole system, you might just want to restart Windows only. Click on shut-down and select the Restart option. Hold down the Shift key and you will find that by clicking on the OK button, Windows will restart without resetting the whole system.
