Windows® 2000 Professional Operating System Printers
As we said before, Windows 2000 recognizes a lot of printers and includes drivers for them. It’s the case for the Epson, Hewlett Packard, etc… printers. Windows 2000 now includes a new printer dialog box that is very nice and useful. Using a specific tab that uses a Microsoft Office 2000 setup like method can set each of the printer settings. Windows 2000 also recognized old printers like HP LaserJet 3 or compliant laser printer models. The color management is well managed by Microsoft Windows 2000, so your documents will look exactly the same as the preview displayed on your screen. Networking In fact Windows 2000 is based on the NT technology. The NT technology that was developed in 1989 by IBM and Microsoft had the goal to simplify the network. This new release of Windows 2000 Pro adds a lot of good network features and network enhancements to be better manageable by the network administrator and to be easier to use for the novice user. The new TCP/IP stack of Windows 2000 has been enhanced: wide size windows support, wide bandwidth support. TAPI 3 will unified voice, video and data on IP. The ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) technology is included. At least you can print via Internet with the IPP service (Internet Printing Protocol). For small working groups the PC connection will be simplified by the use of the automatic IP addressing feature. Sharing an Internet Connection is also supported by Windows 2000 and is a whole lot easier than with Windows 98 Second edition. Windows 2000 also includes the WMI, WMA and WBEM standards that will inform the networks administrator of any kind of hardware or software problems, so administrators will be able to diagnose and fix the problems.
