QuickCam Pro 4000 ships with version 7 of ImageStudio from Logitech, this ImageStudio program helps keep tabs on all of your photos, videos etc that you take with the QuickCam Pro 4000. This is also where you can record video, diagnose any problems, change settings and generally fiddle about with your web cam.

The program also allows you to active a motion sensor, this is quite an amusing program which lets your web cam record video if it notices something moving in your room when you have it set to detect any change in movement. It works very well too as I have tested it out a couple of times to see if it wasn't just something added to the package to look good. Next on the list we have the web page setup, this lets you setup a web page that all of your friends can then visit to see you on your web cam, this is a nice feature, although these days with all of the instant messenger programs around nearly everyone has a program that you can send live video to.

The recording of live video works well too, the picture quality of the web cam is superb, it really is. I have used various web cams over the last 8 years and so far none of them have come close to the quality that this one does. The great thing here is that not only can it do a resolution of 640x480 it can also adjusts really well to light changes that happen wherever you situate your web cam. This had become a bane of mine with previous cameras but so far I can't say that I have had a problem with the Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000. The web cam also comes with a microphone built into itself, this means that you can not only record video, but both video and audio at the same time. Finally we have the still pictures, this is again excellent in quality terms, as can be seen here in various screen grabs, not only is the picture quality good, the size of the files is small which means adding these kind of photos to web pages or to e-mail takes up very little space especially now thanks to the emergence of broadband connections.
