Microsoft did not realize how different smartphones are from PCs until recent software updates broke new Windows Phone 7 devices that were already in the hands of cell phone users, Windows Phone Vice President Joe Belfiore explained Wednesday in a keynote address at the MIX11 conference. Microsoft has years of experience rolling out Windows software updates to computers made by HP and Dell, but devices built by phone manufacturers and sold by cellular carriers turn out to have some key differences, Belfiore said. | ||

Microsoft should carry the same expectations and readiness as for all platforms right from the start. They should closely monitor and work with each platform carrier (Inter-External Research And Development - IERAD) and ask them to submit an exampled compile code to check for adverse and interoperability. But this should be done live with a 30 second safety gap; if it fails, it stops awaiting authorization from all parties to continue.
Sorry but I thought that they would and should of been expecting this. |

| I'm wondering what they have left to learn considering they've been around for 30+ years and have had this same scenario play out a dozen times, at least. They're like the kid that tells you they'll learn to not touch the hot stove when you know they've touched the hot stove 10 times in the past. Except in this case, it's MS's customers that get burned. |
