#2: I had the IE9 RC installed since it became available. Windows update, on Win 7 64-bit, brought it up as an update anyway. I let it install thinking it might be a newer IE9 RC. The install failed with the message that "a newer version already was installed". Just to see what would happen next, I let it try again as the update came back. Of course, it failed again. Then, minutes later the "update" for IE9 RC disappeared from the list of updates. Whatever Microsoft did the update at first could not tell that it wasn't needed. I wonder if pushing a RC as an update is a good idea in any case.
