Speaking of interminable disputes (see above), this week also saw the end of another long-running EU contretemps. After a decade of recriminations, admonitions and threats, the European Commission has closed the books on the Browser Wars, EU Edition. Its prize: a menu.
That's right. Microsoft, that fearsome monopolist accused all those years ago of the crime of giving away a Web browser with Windows, will settle the matter with a menu. Not just any menu, but a screen that will allow the hapless and formerly oppressed users of the Windows operating system to—wait for it—choose another browser.
