WM doesn't hold a chance against the iPhone IMO. The iPhone has become and will continue to be the smart mobile phone of choice for the foreseeable future. It will be and is becoming the iPod of mp3 players. No coincidence that it is an iPod as well.
With Apple's most recent acquisition, LaLa, it's quite apparent that the next step for them is a similar subscription service for music (similar to the Zune Pass). Something that people have been asking for for years now.
Add to that, more carriers will start offering iPhones (most likely) once the AT&T contract is up, offering an even larger market saturation. We are even seeing rumors as of this week that Verizon is ramping up for releasing the iPhone next year, building up their network backbone.
With Apple's never ending commitment to making their products thinner, smaller, sleeker, added features, more HDD space, longer battery life and continuous attention to detail in the UI, look for the next iPhone (4g?) to raise the bar.
The biggest thing that iPhone has going for it (which is hard to stop) is brand recognition and it's iPod inclusion. The 100,000+ apps are just the icing on the cake.
Like the Macbooks and iMac, Apple will not rest on it's laurels, as the will continue to evolve the iPhone product successfully. If they can do it with the iMac and Macbooks so well, they can do it here too.
Now, about that Apple TV. Let it die already.
