  How to configure DFSR file-type compression in Windows Server 2008

On Windows Server 2003, there was a pre-defined list of file extensions that DFSR didn’t compress in the staging folder before replicating to other members in the replication group. The point is that, generally, there’s no gain in compressing already compressed files.

But what if you have other compressed files with different extensions? Well, in this case DFSR on Windows Server 2003 R2 tried to compress them – again.

In Windows Server 2008, you can add and remove file extensions from this list. If you have a file extension that you know is already compressed, or if you want for any reason to compress your zip files before replication, you can. How? Check the links below:
