It's time for Microsoft to target crapware | |

Microsoft is suing so-called "scareware" publishers who bombard people with phony warning messages as a way to get them to buy useless software, but it's ignoring just as big a problem --- the tons of "crapware" that comes pre-installed on PCs these days. It's time for Microsoft to finally tackle the problem.

Crapware brings down the cost of PCs and is easily uninstalled and the desktop web site icons easily deleted. A bigger issue is whether MS will have the gumption to set 2-GB as the minimum memory for Windows, or continue on their wimp-like path to setting unrealistic hardware minimums. If MS has a genuine goal of fast booting Windows, than they need to make sure that all new retail PCs contain at least 2-GB of RAM.

Bob, That is probably already an unwritten rule. I haven't seen any PCs or Laptops in Best Buy with less than 2 gig of ram in the last six months.
That said, it should be an MS published requirement. |
