Gamespy have posted a review of the upcoming game by EA Sports, Knockout Kings 2002. They gave Knockout Kings 2002 a score of 82, and here is a snippet of the review:
While the game uses real-life fighters, commentators, and venues, it's most definitely an arcade game. This is a bit unfortunate since the engine lends itself to making a great boxing sim. Black Ops has done an outstanding job at recreating the way boxers actually move and punch. The control scheme is first rate and makes excellent use of the analog controller. It's remarkable how much control you have over the fighters. Having said all that, there are far more punches thrown in the game than in real life. Clinching was omitted to keep things more exciting, and button mashers can do very well. Sure you can still set up vicious hooks with a sharp jab or come out of a crouch with an uppercut, but if your opponent is mashing away it probably won't matter.
