Halo 2 delayed to fix "partial nudity" | |

In an e-mail statement sent to Next-Gen, Microsoft said, “It has come to our attention that an unfortunate, obscure content error which includes partial nudity was included in our initial production of “Halo 2” for Windows Vista. As such, we have updated the initial game packaging at retailers with a label, so customers are aware before purchasing the game. Additionally, we’ve developed an online update which can be downloaded from www.halo2.com to remove the content. “At Microsoft we take the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) guidelines very seriously and hold ourselves to high standards, with our customers always in mind.” | ||

Yep, players run around blowing the crap out of each other with massive ordinance, red gibs & blood spraying everywhere and that's just dandy, but naked breasts?!?! HOLY CRAP!!!!! Quick, Robin! To the Puritan-mobile!

#1, <Bows> You are so right, Latch! What a reflection this is on the dichotomy of interest we serve so poorly. Animated mayhem? No problem. Animated backside? Oh my God! Quick, hire a platoon if midget Cub Scouts to run around with their erasers and remove this horrid offense. We get our kids so worked up over things like this that they don't learn how to differentiate between what is and what is not, appropriate, and when. Besides, isn't Halo/2 rated M - [Mature due to, Blood and Gore, Violence, Language Partial Nudity], to begin with?

| dont forget: the ratings have descriptors accompanying them. M rating usually has something like gore, strong language, etc. So, if they leave off "includes nudity"... msft will be in deep doodoo |

I don't think anyone buys a video game to see virtual boobies. I bet the game characters don't smoke either.

#4, LOLOL - So true.
#3, Yep, true, but like most folks/companies these days, all have been caught up in this nonsense. It's ridiculous. I assess that whether a younger person may, or may not handle any of it, is up to an assessment made by parents. Just because a child is younger, does not mean that they can't display plently of maturity. In this case, Microsoft has no choice but to publicly respond - all while privately, I hope they regard this as the bunk that it is. |

| From my understanding of this issue, the partial nudity is of a programmer's butt that appears when one gets a ".ass" error, whatever that is. Personally speaking, if a game has some male programmer's hairy ass appearing anywhere in it, I *WANT* a well described warning label warning me about it!! Thaat could cause all sorts of psychological trauma!! :-) |
