Many companies use Microsoft® BizTalk® Server to process the core data that their business depends on. These businesses have no room for error, and a prolonged downtime due to a simple hardware outage could mean losing a large amount of money. BizTalk Server provides guaranteed data delivery by using a robust transactional support that incorporates the ACID attributes: atomicity, consistency, isolation, and durability. In addition, the Microsoft Windows® 2000 Cluster service should be used to safeguard against hardware failure of any server that is used to persist data to a local disk. Both Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Windows 2000 Datacenter Server include this component. BizTalk Server supports active/passive clustering using Microsoft Windows 2000 Cluster service, providing high availability in Orchestration scenarios. | ||

#1 apparantly you have no idea what Cluster Services do. It is two or more servers that hold the smae information or talk to the same RAID array, so for a complete failure they would need all servers to fail. And I have never seen any MS server OS fail after 2 0r 3 days. My average uptime on NT server is 200+ days. In which the only re-boots are for updates to the server. #2 - People like #1 have never worked with Win2k, their only familiarity with Windows products is Win9x.

| Soda or they have never worked anywhere that has money to implement the cluster services. It just bothers me when people have no idea how long a Windows NT or 2K Server can stay up and running. The only reason I have to re-boot any of my servers is for hardware upgrades or Hotfixes. My longest running NT box has to be re-booted for SCSI errors. Although it has been working fine, just the occassional error on the tape backup drive, I am thinking the drive is dying, it is over 3 years old and is used everyday except Saturday and Sunday. Oh well, screw the people who have never had a server. |
