IN WHAT may be a last-ditch effort to resurrect the flagging profile of its video games machine in Japan, Microsoft is preparing a "stealth attack" on six-year-old schoolchildren. Later this week, the American software giant will begin to give out free versions of its Xbox home video games console to about 70 primary and junior-high schools in the Suginami-ku suburb of Tokyo. The idea behind the donations, Microsoft says, is to instil computer literacy at an early age.
