Back in the day (circa 1994), when Vince McMahon and his elite bunch of brawlers suddenly became the next big thing and began to take over the prime time viewing hours of a not inconsiderable portion of the American viewing public, who would have thought that twenty years later his multi-billion dollar empire would become the unstoppable juggernaut that it is today? Very few people in the world can legitimately say that they have never heard of the WWF or its characters. The larger than life soap operas that take place within an arena of combatants is unparalleled, and, for better or worse, completely at home within the American pop culture lexicon. With interactive entertainment systems reaching unheard of levels of power in this day and age, the transition from on screen characters to completely controllable ones is a no-brainer. Judging by the sales numbers of the past WWF game titles, it would seem that more than a few of us out there really enjoy assuming the role of our favorite Cro-Magnon warrior, bashing the living hell out of our friends within the squared circle, albeit from a safe and cozy position on the living room couch.
