Adobe Systems Incorporated, the leader in network publishing, today introduced Adobe PageMaker® 7.0 software, a new upgrade to its award-winning page layout program. PageMaker 7.0 is an integrated business publishing solution with easy-to-use tools for producing professional quality results. This new release provides tighter integration with popular business applications for enhanced productivity and supports Adobe's vision of network publishing, allowing users to create a document once and view it on any device, anytime, anywhere. With its enhanced workflow, PageMaker now provides users with a breadth of features to unleash the power of other Adobe applications while maintaining the superior printing quality and reliability they have come to expect. Below is the list of the major new features:
- Merge text and graphics stored originally in spreadsheets or databases,
- Create and view Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files. Add document information, change security and compatibility options, embed tags for accessibility, and modify advanced Acrobat® Distiller® settings — all from within PageMaker,
- Easily place Adobe PDF files created with Adobe Photoshop® 5.0-6.0 or Adobe Illustrator® 9.0,
- Save time by importing native Photoshop and Illustrator files,
- Use a converter utility to open Quark XPress 3.3-4.1, Microsoft Publisher 95-2000 publications directly in PageMaker.
PageMaker 7.0 will be available in summer 2001 to customers in the United States and Canada at an estimated street price of $499 for the full version ($79 for the upgrade).
