I've posted my review of the Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Pro. Here is an excerpt: The Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse included in this combination is an extension of the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse Special Edition and the Microsoft Optical Mouse. The mouse is also about the same size as the Wireless Optical Mouse SE, sizing up at 3 inches long, 1.5 inches wide and an inch high. The mouse has a titanium finish around the top, with a sleek black design on the bottom. The black has a very "tech" feel, it is very subtle and appeasing to look at. As you can see in the image below, there is a nice silver Microsoft "Optical Technology" logo on the front of the mouse. In fact, the only difference between the SE version and this version is this mouse had the silver, rather than black top. | ||

Finally picked up two of these two weeks ago. It looks like they are finally in stock in volume. The keyboard is slick and I really do like it. I use just the keyboard with a wired intellimouse explorer 3.0 mouse.
I think I have an awesome setup with the addition of the balck keyboard. The buttons up top are actually usefull and I use all of them. I highly recommend this keyboard. Well the nature of technology Mat is that stuff changes. Who know we may not even have keyboards as we know them today in 10 years. I would much rather companies continue to invest in these technologies as they are always getting better. This natural keyboard is the best yet from MS. Peace, RA |

Well I do have to agree that the buttons along the top are worthless.
I love the wheel on the side of my Office keyboard, and I love the back button on my Intellimouse Explorer. That being said, I think I've worn out my Office keyboard. :( It's only been a year, but several of the keys are starting to give me problems where they stick if you don't hit them dead center. I'm probably going to buy another one to replace it, but this is irritating. A keyboard should last longer than this. I have another one at work, and am not having the same problems. Could be an early design defect. |

mat, bitter, bitter, bitter.
I've had a Microsoft Natural Pro and Natural Pro Elite for three and two years respectively. They both still work quite well. Are you insinuating that Microsft keyboards are POS? I take serious issue with your comment if that is what you mean. Next up, generally speaking Microsoft is a software vendor not a hardware vendor. Since this article deals with review of a Microsoft keyboard and mouse (about the only hardware Microsoft makes) why are you complaining here about PnP problems? Microsoft can't improve SoundBlaster's PnP abilities, but it can make great keyboards. |

Picked up one of these during the holidays, and I'm enjoying it very much. However I am using my Wireless Explorer mouse instead of the mouse that came with it; using one receiver for both devices.
Other than that, I'm very happy with the product. =) |

kevinu - Yeah, I have the non-split version of this keyboard. I do have a complaint, and that's regarding the range... it only goes about 4 feet. Supposedly the bluetooth one will do 20 or so, but that was $100 more... as sphbecker noted. :)
Back in 1992 I bought a Northgate Omnikey Ultra for $105. I still have it. It works fine... I sometimes thing I should go back to using it. |

| Soda - I've taken the Bluetooth at least 30 ft away. In fact I went outside and sat in my car and it still worked. |

Ok, bought a replacement Office keyboard... They redesigned it, slightly. It has a darker grey, and the buttons along the top are more clearly defined. The keystrokes feel different as well.
Much better, will see how long this one lasts. |
