Microsoft and RSA Security on Wednesday started beta testing a product designed to phase out the use of traditional passwords and replace them with automatically generated passwords from a SecurID token. SecurID is one of the most popular two-factor authentication systems and is already used by many large enterprises. The token is about the size of a matchbox and generates a new six-digit code every minute. | ||

i don't know anything about these things, but a head mechanic at a mercedes-benz dealership told me that the benz keys that generate similar codes to start the car were a source of great troubles for their shop.
just a thought. |

Do you really think I'll manage to keep this "matchbox" size device around? HA! Just one more thing for me to lose. Hey, I just spent 20 minutes hunting for my wallet...
Meanwhile, what I find really handy is the UareU biometric fingerprint reader. It reads your fingerprint and enters your password from an encrypted list it keeps and voila! That's all you have to do. And, because of this, you can create very unbreakable many digit random passwords, with a password generator. The only thing is, you need to keep a copy somewhwere, in case your device quits working, or you want to change the password. What I do is e-mail an encrypted file with all my passwords to an unnamed co-conspiritor for safekeeping. |
