Let's face it, in terms of developing friendly, responsive user interfaces, browser-based programming is a huge step backwards. HTML and the browser were not designed to be a platform for application user interfaces. They were designed for hyperlinked documents. Interfaces developed in a browser pale next to what we can do with tools like Visual Basic®. | ||

In the past the only way you got good functionality out of a web browser interface was to use VB to create ActiveX components.
But then that's also a fricking nightmare to maintain and promote. It's a good article, and they address many of the issues of why you might do this. |

| One of the reasons Microsoft submitted the CLI to ECMA, was so that it could be standardized. When a standard exists, it can be implemented on other OS's. So, Microsoft already is supporting the Mono project by standardizing the CLI. |

#15, hmmm... I'm thinking you don't know what a UI is....
EVERY website has a user interface, doesn't matter wheather it was written in HTML, Flash, Java, or whatever, if you can use it/see it, then it has a user interface. |

I hate people trying to minimize the internet saying its not for that its not for this. To me thats the great thing about the internet. The internet is what you make of it. It can be whatever you want it to be.
Just because some luminary who supposedly invented the WWW is mad at Microsoft's supposed "browser tricks" means jack crap to me. The web is what people make it to be. And just because some people don't like it thats great. DO your own thing and I will do mine. But don't try to push your morality on me. |
