Hey, all you programmers out there, stop bitching. You did it to your selves! lol
That is, if you are an advocate or use open source software. Remember, it was produced at no cost. (How does that saying go? - Its free as in beer! lol) That is, the programmers that wrote the code were not being paid for their time. So, why did you think that your time is of value when you are writing code at a "XYZ" corporation? If you don't think that your time has value, why should business and IT managers think that it is of value?
The bottom line is that programmers' pay and benefits have stagnated the last three years and in many cases have actually headed south. Meanwhile, IT management, project managers, server and network administrators pay have stayed the same or gone up slightly.
I personally have seen my pay, bonuses, options and benefits go higher every year as a network system manager. Meanwhile, we are staffing programmers on a contract basis and at rock bottom salaries.
Open sore, baby. Its free as in beer - only now programmers are crying in their beer! Doh!
