Microsoft is considering paying its shareholders a $10 billion dividend, according to a French newspaper.
The Financial Times' Web site carried a report from its sister paper, Les Echos, late Thursday saying that shareholders of the software giant would receive the dividend, which would be worth roughly $1 per share, in a single payment or spread over several quarters. The report was based on an interview with an unnamed source.
The dividend is one of several options Microsoft is considering, according to the report.
The company would not comment on what it called "rumors."
