ummm.... no..... There is a reason why it's called WinXP 64bit Edition. It's made for the 64bit Itanium processor, not the 32 P4 processor. EWW: How is it a waste? Those people that do have I2's will likely get this, and more people will have I2's down the line... what's a waste, especially since pretty much all they really have to change is the HAL. |

64-bit addresses two things, mainly. More memory, and faster/larger computations.
The Win2003 server supporting 64-bit will primarily end up being used for SQL server. The WinXP 64-bit edition will primarily end up being used for apps that require a lot of computations. Some engineering apps, some CAD, some GIS... specialized scientific modeling tools. Both are pretty special purpose, but it adds a large feather in the cap of Microsoft because now people have a choice over using Sun equipment. |

don't forget realistic physic systems in Games;) Well 32 bit can handle that ok, but as the frustum is opened up for more realism the calculations start getting more complex and more numorous. El |

| eldoen - Yeah, I wonder about that. Most of that work these days has been in the video chip. But I wouldn't doubt in say 3 years from now seeing games requiring an Itanium. :) |
