Nvidia Corp. has designed a new cooling solution for the GeForceFX, officials confirmed today, which is quieter than the cards shipped for early testing.
Previously, the a test system with a GeForceFX card installed in it has idled at 54 dB of sound pressure; when a 3D application starts, the FlowFX fan springs to life, increasing the total sound pressure to roughly 58 dB. According to a report at enthusiast site HardOCP, the new cooling system actually removes 5 dB from the system.
