Dismissing the downturn in the region's IT market, Microsoft recorded strong double-digit growth during the first quarter of its current financial year. The company's first quarter ended September 30. "All the five sub-regions within the Middle East operations exceeded goals. In fact, we had planned for a softer first quarter because of the summer," said Mohammed Kateeb, regional managing director. "But we put in a growth in the low 20s. In fact, Middle East is one of the fastest growing territories for Microsoft worldwide."
