Microsoft is looking for a better way to make sense of your chicken scratch. The current version of its Tablet PC operating system, which lets computer users control their machines with a pen-like device instead of just a mouse and keyboard, matches people's scrawls against the company's own database of handwriting samples. The idea is to ensure that the unlimited variety of T's that human hands can produce will, in fact, be recognized as T's. | ||

| This will never work. There are just WAY too many people out there that have terrible penmanship. We're going to see a lot of scribbled notes that look like someone leaned on the keyboard. |

| Actually, it does work, and it works VERY well, as I've pointed out many times, citing a screenshot I took during the beta of the TabletPC SDK, and have even put it up for display multiple times. |

| I can back up CPUGuy's comments having used the SDK myself. And his pic was pretty good proof of the recognition. |
