One of the noted characteristics of Microsoft software is that it has a tendency to behave, with absolute assurance, as if it knows better than you. Our attention has been drawn to a particularly striking example of this unearthed by Woody's Watch - essentially, Office XP autocorrects hyperlinks you 'mistyped,' hides the correction from you, then doesn't correct it back when you try to correct it back. | ||

#7 and 8, please don't make me post my list of Register innacuracies, editorializing in the body of a news story, blatant biased anti-MS comments (again in the body of the news story, passed off as news), and violations of basic journalistic principles. The Register isn't worth the paper its printed on, which is a good thing since it's not printed on paper. |

| It bothers us that an upstanding site and news source such as ActiveWin would post such blatantly false and misleading stories that come from The Register. What if the New York Times started posting alien abduction stories or "Two Headed Baby" stories. Sure, you could just "not read them", but wouldn't it bother you and jolt your trust in them as an upstanding news organization? It would me. |

#25: MS bashing is usually a matter of preference, however. Most alternatives are no better and are in fact, worse in most cases, but they do something that MS doesn't to, or doesn't do the same, so MS is EVIL, EVIL, EVIL. Register bashing, OTOH, is warented and justified. They attempt to pass themselves off as a news organization (by releasing original news stories), however they are rediculously biased (proven time and time again) and editorialize in their stories. This is not a matter of preference, but a matter of journalistic ethics, of which the Register has none. |

#26 What the hell are you talking about? Netscape insists on being both as well. All you have to do is tell it never to bother you again. Both OL and WD have that feature, and so does Netscape. A Register-ized version of that would be that somehow Word takes over all HTML processing in your system (simply because it asks to be your default editor). Taking a tiny truth and stretching it into Microsoft declaring itself supreme ruler of the world. |
