Thanks Arson for this one: According to an Interplay regulatory filing today, Microsoft has grabbed the exclusive first videogame rights to The Matrix for its upcoming Xbox. Hungry for exclusive and original content, Microsoft has agreed to lend cash-hungry Interplay $5 million to secure publishing rights to The Matrix six months prior to its arrival on any other console. According to the agreement, and in addition to the time-based exclusivity, no other system, such as GameCube or PlayStation 2, can offer Matrix-based games that feature Internet play. To cap off the deal, the Xbox version has several extra bonuses that other next generation systems won't be able to offer. These features include new (or extra characters), extra gameplay, more dialog, more special stunt moves, more (different) vehicles, more voice-over, more motion capture for better character emotions, more weapons and extra "pyrotechnics," extra sound tracks from the Hollywood composer, and more hidden video.
