Note: We've been told it launches October 24th Microsoft this week plans to move one step closer to launching MSN 8, a major overhaul of its online service that for the first time will charge people who use an alternate Internet service provider. The company expects to release the second testing version to preselected testers as early as Tuesday. MSN 8 Beta 2, which is feature complete, sports new parental controls and e-mail spam filtering, among other features. | ||

I have about:blank as my homepage. I still visit msn.com sites (usually not the homepage itself) quite often.
As for dark paths, I have no idea what he is referring to. |

about:blank ever since I learned how to change my homepage.... if I only knew how long ago that was...
As for shipping with windows... I really don't care. I'm not going to use it so it doesn't bother me at all. And as far as when people click on it and having it ask for a credit card... I don't feel that is a dark path... Its called business |

Realist - Most users do not leave the homepage as the default. That is one of the most common customizations people make, the other is changing the background wallpaper.
Most other settings they could care less about. Basing this opinion off years and years of actually doing user support at people's desktops. My homepage is about:blank... my background is usually the default blue, or Teletubbies theme in the case of XP. The only MSN page I visit is msnbc.com because they are the best web news site. |

Hey, I don't know if you can't beat them, then join them.
I like the look and feel of msn.com for my homepage, I've customized the colors and the information that is displayed. However, I never actual use MSNexplorer or any of the features of msn.com(its just too bad). But I will give MS some praise, because since MSN 6, msn.com does look pretty nice, and it loads up really fast. I hate the about blank screen, because I always used to get that pre-Win2k when something wasn't working, so I'd rather see something like MSN.com that has pictures and colors then about blank(in order to know that my internet connection and setting still work).
