Microsoft Corp. today named Lisa Brummel, a 15-year veteran of the company who has led the Home & Retail Division for the past 10 years, as corporate vice president for Human Resources.

"I’m excited that Lisa will be joining with our exceptional team of human resource leaders to continue to build a world-class HR function, which is so critical to the future of our company," said Steve Ballmer, chief executive officer at Microsoft. "Lisa understands our business inside and out; she’s passionate about developing great people and building high-performance teams; and she will help ensure that our development and business units have the people and tools they need to excel."

Brummel, 45, joined Microsoft in 1989 and has held a number of management positions, including general manager of Microsoft’s Consumer Productivity business, product unit manager of Microsoft’s Kids business, and product unit manager of Desktop and Decision reference products. Before joining Microsoft, she held various sales management and marketing positions with Prentice Hall Inc. publishing company.
