IGN once again have another preview up, this time for the Criterion Games game Burnout which was originally released on the PS2. Here is a snippet of the preview:
Burnout is a pretty simple game. But, you know what, it's damn fun. Actually, that simple surface is more intricate when you put in a few hours of gameplay. While it may seem smart to do your best to avoid traffic, it won't get you far in Burnout. Your boost meter is only filled when you take traffic head-on or nearly miss cars. You won't pull this off driving like your grandma. And you'll want to fill up that boost meter, because once you do, a tap of the A button will give you some serious speed. I thought I was going fast before, but then I experienced my first speed burst. Now that's fast.
And that's what's great about Burnout. You feel the speed, especially from the bumper view. Speaking of the view, there are only two options: pulled back behind the car and bumper view. Any real fan of speed will only take the bumper view. I was a little disappointed in the lack of views, but it's not something that really detracts from the game.
