Sun Microsystems Inc. plans to announce on Monday a new series of cheaper data storage machines, part of the computer maker's attempt to woo buyers of extremely low-end machines.
Santa Clara, California-based Sun has aggressively pushed into the low end for computers in the last year, aiming to enlarge its market and stave off Microsoft Corp., which in turn aims to move from its base as the producer of operating systems for PCs toward managing higher-end systems.
