DELEGATES to the 15th International AIDS Conference in Bangkok wound up their meeting yesterday by pledging private, corporate and government donations to help stem the growth of the HIV pandemic. As the six-day conference closed with speeches from former South African president Nelson Mandela and Indian Congress Party leader Sonia Gandhi, the European Union and Microsoft mogul Bill Gates announced additional pledges totalling $US102 million ($142 million) to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
