I want to talk to you about buying Microsoft software. My point is simple: don't do it.
Do not buy Microsoft software because Microsoft is not an ethical company. Microsoft is a company that took its legal desktop monopoly (yes, it's legal to have a monopoly) and, like all monopolists, illegally abused their position to drive an innovative competitor out of business. We all know the story of Netscape; how Microsoft perceived Navigator as a threat, bundled Internet Exploder in Windows for free, and basically drove Netscape off the Windows desktop for good.
Do not buy Microsoft software because Microsoft lies. Microsoft, throughout its trials with the DOJ over its monopoly abuse, constantly claimed that the DOJ was threatening its right to "innovate." The last thing I can remember Microsoft "innovating" on its own was MS Bob. This is perhaps why Microsoft quickly realized that the best way for it to "innovate" was to continue copying Apple; it gets more bang for it's unspent buck that way.
