The third film in George A. Romero's zombie trilogy, 1985's Day of the Dead will be released by Anchor Bay on August 19th. The underrated classic (and definitely most gruesome of the three films) will arrive as a two-disc special edition featuring a new anamorphic transfer struck from the original camera negative, Dolby Digital 5.1 EX and DTS ES 6.1 audio tracks, an audio commentary with George Romero, Tom Savini, Lori Cardille and production designer Cletus Anderson, and a second commentary track with filmmaker and fan Roger Avery.
Disc 2 will include a new documentary on the film featuring interviews with Lori Cardille, Tom Savini, George Romero, Cletus Anderson, and others; behind-the-scenes FX footage from Tom Savini; still galleries (poster and advertising, behind-the-scenes, production design, on-set production); the original screenplay; promo footage; a final audio interview with actor Richard Liberty (Dr. Logan); production notes; and trailers. Retail is $29.98.
