One of the great joys of arcade racing is a satisfying crash. There's something about the sounds of screeching tires and metal on metal that adds to the adrenaline rush of zooming around in a virtual space. It goes without saying that such acts would be considered pretty reprehensible in the real world by most sensible people's standards, but the urge is certainly there, which may explain the existence of a bizarre spectator sport known as demolition derby racing.
Demolition Derby and Figure 8 Race makes a good-hearted attempt to bring the excitement of this sport to the PC screen. Although it succeeds in a few respects, it is simply too poorly produced and too limited to generate the same level of excitement as most other smash-'em-up racers.
