Linda Stone, Microsoft's "ambassador" to Silicon Valley, is leaving the company less than two years after assuming the role of introducing the world to a kinder, gentler software titan. Stone's departure, revealed in an e-mail Sunday sent by CEO Steve Ballmer to Microsoft employees, comes at a critical juncture for the company as it prepares for a two-front showdown in its landmark antitrust trial. | ||

The most interesting comment of the entire article...
'While competitors have stolen the media spotlight ahead of the two March hearings, they "have little, if any, credibility with the court," Sterling said. ' The article basically states that Stone is leaving Microsoft because of a conflict of interest with Ballmer. Some guy from Silicon Valley says that is too bad. But someone from Gartner group says it is good, because Stone has been ineffectual communicating Microsoft's position. Then it goes on to state that MS has realized that what they need to change is their reputation with consumers and partners... competitors are irrelevant. Then it goes on to talk about the court trial and how the most important piece is not Sun and Oracle and their whining, but what Sony and Gateway have to say. |

Yeah, I agree macross! What would we do with out, soda!
And by the way, I thought the article was about it being completely pointless for MS to have an ambassador responsible for improving relations and perceptions because MS is predicated on its monopolistic, power-hungry strong arm tactics and to try to change that would be impossible. I guess we could all pick a phrase or two and come up with a different meaning. |

| Hey, I just don't like being told that I didn't read something or that I don't know how to read because I disagree with soda and because his post was silly: he recapped the story for OUR benefit and drew his own conclusions. Thanks alot. I did read it; I know what it says, and he is a ridiculous fool if he thinks he can validly sit in the corner and say, you didn't read it, I know you didn't because you don't agree with me. Come on, soda, is that what you are resorting to these days--"you didn't read it"? |
