Thanks WMLAH.com: A Japanese website has posted a summary of a recent press gathering regarding its Windows.NET server systems. Microsoft categorizes the system requirements into four areas: Web, Standard, Enterprise and Datacenter. Web and Standard will run on 32-bit based systems. Enterprise and Datacenter will run on 64-bit systems, but not just any 64-bit system. Microsoft told the press that they would run only on IA-64 (Itanium) systems. No mention of x86-64 (Hammer/Opteron) support for high-end servers was given. In fact, x86-64 wasn't even mentioned during the 2-day press event.
