Dell Computer, together with Lucasfilm THX®, recently announced availability of the world's first THX-certified PCs. To create the first multimedia PCs ever to pass stringent THX certification testing, Dell Computer selected WinDVD for the crucial video and audio DVD playback. WinDVD from InterVideo, Inc., a leading provider of PC digital video and audio solutions for consumers and OEMs, is the world's leading DVD software player.
Created by the THX Group of Lucasfilm Ltd for movie theaters, home theaters, and now PCs, the THX certification program is designed to ensure consumers that movies, music, and games will have superior picture and sound quality for movie-theater impact, realism and quality.
``To pass the stringent THX certification, every element of the system that affects video and audio must meet demanding quality requirements,'' stated Michael Demeyer, senior director, Video Product Marketing. ``I am delighted that InterVideo was able to contribute to Dell's success in bringing -- for the first time -- THX quality to multimedia PCs. Significantly, Dell was able to achieve this unprecedented success with our standard WinDVD product.''
InterVideo's WinDVD has won top awards from nearly every leading trade magazine in the PC and DVD industries. It supports all major CPUs from Intel, AMD, and Cyrix. WinDVD runs on all Microsoft operating systems including Windows 95, 98, NT4, Windows 2000 and Millennium, and supports DirectShow, DirectDraw, and DirectSound.
WinDVD is part of InterVideo's WinCinema suite of video and audio processing software for multimedia PCs. Other WinCinema components include WinRip(TM) (MP3 encoder and player), WinDVR(TM) (software digital VCR), WinCoder(TM) (encoder for MPEG-1 & 2 video), WinProducer(TM) (video editor), and WinDTV(TM) (digital TV decoder).
