| With Microsoft Security Essentials free, why would you pay for AV? Intel knows this, yet they bought an AV company. Huh? |

| Think AntiVirus on a chip. Similar to a Trusted Platform Module that offloads encryption/decryption tasks from the processor. This will offload malware scanning from the CPU and your virus definitions will be part of the driver. Just a guess. And how about that vendor lock in, for the life of the hardware... This could also be integrated into any type of computing equipment, PDA's, Smart Phones, Routers or even a SAN. |

Free doesn't mean best product. Yes, MSE are actually pretty damned good, but you can do better. For me, NOD32 is well worth what I pay for it not only in capability, but in how it doesn't affect the machine's performance. No more killing the AV when gaming. It's just not necessary with NOD32.
