| I don't know anyone who thinks of MS as an innovator. And calling them "fast" at anything is dubious at best. They are notorious these days for following the actual innovators and market pioneers, but usually a year or more later with a sub-standard offering. |

Bah,
As I have stated here before: Microsoft = Business Computer Market vs. Apple = Consumer Electronic Market vs. Google = Ad Supported Electronic Market. Latch these are different animals. Apple, as an example, has shown as little aptitude at catering to the business market as MS has been able to cater to the consumer market. Google, on the other hand has yet to show it can make money on anything other than ads. Regardless of the prevailing wisdom that one of these business strategies is better than the other. The proof is in the profits. It will take years to call a winner. It is altogether possible that they can co-exist for years with each making big profits. I am hoping for the latter scenario. These are great American companies... long my they prosper! |

Latch,
Rather than fretting about MS. You might start fretting about possibly the most visible Canadian tech company, namely RIM. I foresee a future without RIM in years if not months from now. It will likely get gobbled up by Sony or Nokia. Both of them desperately need something like RIM to compete in the cell phone market. |

#2: My point was that MS doesn't innovate anywhere near as much as they & their minions (used to) talk about it. I think the execs finally got the memo and stopped overusing the word as everyone was far past the eye-rolling point already.
#3: That's funny. RIM gone in months??? I'll take that bet. They're hugely profitable form what I understand. It would have to be an offer they couldn't refuse. #4: I think the Frog Exaggerator would have been a huge hit. |
