News is slow this morning, but I have managed to find this article on Gamespot which gives you some tips to improve your XP Gaming. They range from Disabling your background apps to setting your virtual memory. If you know a lot about Windows XP then this guide will be quite simplistic, but if you are new to either computers or Windows XP you might find some stuff in there that helps. | ||

I have a question, and I haven't heard it truly answered. Why do the same systems setup with the only difference being 98 or XP get totally different scores on PCMark2002 and 98(untweaked) seems to score better?

I usually got better performance under 2000, and now XP, than I did with 9x. One game where the improvement was really noticible was Mesiah. Under 9x, I had lower framerates and jumpiness in some areas. Under Win2k/XP, the game ran totally smooth. Quake/Unreal engine games also gained performance, as well as others (especially those using AGP). No tweaks needed. This post was edited by n4cer on Monday, May 06, 2002 at 19:21. |
