Corporate users of Apple Inc.'s Leopard operating system are more than five times more likely to say that they are "very satisfied" with the OS than business users of Microsoft Corp.'s Windows Vista, a research firm said Wednesday.

#1: ChangeWave is not an investment newsletter. It's a research & technology newsletter from a subsidiary of an investment company. From the page you referenced:
"We report to you on transformational change in technologies and companies on a regular basis by using a series of surveys and focus groups on a range of topics such as consumer spending, technology purchasing and industry and company-specific demand for products and services." Sounds like that's exactly what they've done here, surveyed their network as to Vista response. Naturally, any Microbot worth their MCP card will try to debunk their findings, perhaps by trying to cast doubt by implying that they don't know what they're talking about. Is that what you're doing when you incorrectly called them an investment newsletter, parkkker? |

| Since Apple has vertical control of their product the machines perform well and look great. Through a cheap Vista notebook PC at someone with 512-MB or 1-GB of RAM and a 1.5-GHz dual core processor and it'll be a dog. There are way too many underpowered Vista PCs on the market. Also, why do retail PC's still have the front panel or the area aroung a touchpad covered with ugly stickers? Apple wins on looks alone. |

It might make people more satisfied but it doesn't stop OS X and safari get owned in 2 minutes. So much for security through obscurity.

Basically, I think surveys like this are meaningless unless more info is given about the respondents (i.e. their type of business, their title, and their home computer choice). What is telling is that only slightly more than half of MAC users surveyed were very satisfied. That tells me that there is a lot of room for improvement in both camps.

Did this "article" come out early. Did it get slipped out ahead of April Fool's Day? With the possible exception of marketing design, where is it being used as a primary computer in the work place? Look, the issue has always been the ridiculous dearth of software applications available on Macs. This hasn't changed. There is simply no good programming platform on which to create good Apple programs and a extreme lack of programmers willing to write for a dismally small installed base of computers. Couple that with the only software "hits" are Apple's alone. And you see that this isn't going to change anytime soon. |
