Microsoft faces Office Live lawsuit | |

A company called Office Live said Friday it has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Microsoft over the software giant's use of "Office Live" for its on-demand productivity tools. Office Live, which runs sites such as Legalofficelive.com, Realtorsofficelive.com and Accountantsofficelive.com, offers free professional advice to consumers and offers customer leads to businesses. The company is seeking an injunction to prevent Microsoft from using the "Office Live" name. The lawsuit comes at a time when Microsoft is working to get its highly touted "Live" offerings established in the market. | ||

| After checking the background of this conflict it does appear that MS chose to contiue to use the name Office Live knowing that it was legally trademarked first by another company. MS even negotiated for the rights to the name from the trademark holder and broke off the talks. |

The world's biggest IP thief strikes again, this time running roughshod over a small vendor. Remember this the next time MS is whining in the media about how it needs new legislation (or whatever) to protect its precious IP rights etc etc yak yak woof woof, or how some other competitor is infringing on something MS thinks it owns.
