Microsoft lifts sales in Russia | |

Microsoft says sales in Russia have surged 72 per cent in the year to July as piracy declined and incomes rose, boosting demand for licensed products. Microsoft sold more than two million copies of its Windows XP operating system in the year ended June 30, 76 per cent more than in the previous 12 months, the company says, without divulging exact figures. Russia's economy, boosted by high oil prices, is growing for an eighth straight year, allowing more people to buy products and services such as computer programs. | ||

| more bad news for the OSS fanboys, as their long-held fantasy proves untrue. I thought if msft's products weren't pirated, then oss would sell very well because of its relative low price. |

Some of our Russian developers have told me that you can go to the marketplaces in Russia, Ukraine, etc and still get DVDs packed with pirated Windows (or any other software) for about $3. |

if you think they are making up their financial #s, you should say something to the SEC... as that would be misleading to investors, and likely illegal. or were you simply out of reasonable responses. |
