Microsoft ActiveSync 4.2 is the latest sync software release for Windows Mobile-based devices. ActiveSync provides a great synchronization experience with Windows®-based PCs and Microsoft Outlook right out of the box. ActiveSync acts as the gateway between your Windows-based PC and Windows Mobile-based device, enabling the transfer of Outlook information, Office documents, pictures, music, videos and applications to and from your device. In addition to synchronizing with a desktop PC, ActiveSync can synchronize directly with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 so that you can keep your e-mail, calendar data, tasks and contact information updated wirelessly when you’re away from your PC. | ||

| TowerDave just sits and waits for OldogSync 1.0 which will obviously be superior to anything li'l ol' Microsoft has developed. It will be perfect in the first version, with no bugs to fix or design changes needed, because oldog is a far superior developer than Microsoft has. |

| #4: You just described Palm's sync software. Palm got it right years ago. I've never had every calendar entry duplicated, to-do's mysteriously reappear, contacts multiply with my Palm devices and their sync software. I've used both Palm and Pocket PC devices for over 8 years. Palm got it right a long time ago; Microsoft is still trying. |

At work just the other day I had to remove two duplicate calendars and a duplicate contacts folder from a user running a Palm device. Both have issues. In fact, we rarely get calls from the ActiveSync users, because in our environment, it just works. I don't know what percentage of our PDA users are on each system, so that may explain it, but I know there are plenty using ActiveSync and very few issues. The only one I've worked on myself turned out to be a bad cradle.
My point was, until someone here can do better themselves... I know I couldn't get it any better. TowerDave |
