I don't know what internet bandwidth has to do with scalability, #12.

| Doesn't scalability in general refer the ability of a server (server in concept, not necessarily referring to a computer only) to maintain its serving ability as the number of users increases. This would mean, that bandwidth is included in the term "scalable". Microsoft should have given more resources for at least a week after the release of VisualStudio.NET. They should have "scaled up" the ability of the Subscriber Downloads site to support users. Perhaps they could have had additional mirror sites. Perhaps they could have leased some T3's for a month. Perhaps they could have increased the number of servers. Perhaps the could have done a graduated release - first for Universal subscribers, then Enterprise, then Professional. I don't think #12 was off base in his comment. For three hours here at work, I've received script time outs and server too busy. However you define scalable, this current situation is rather annoying. |
