I've been using it for several hours now. No problems with the beta yet. I really like the simpler GUI. The current msn messenger is far too commerical.
'Sharing Folders' is the killer feature. |

I'm in the beta, but I don't have access to the download on connect.microsoft.com yet. I think they're releasing it slowly to avoid a mad rush of testers.
The new contact features are going to be cool. And I agree with mooresa56, Sharing Folders will be killer. So many times I've wanted to share a couple files with a friend and could not without a bunch of trouble. For those of you who don't know, Microsoft aquired www.foldershare.com which has similar features. I think it was basically a blocking maneuver though, as Microsoft was probably already working on the features, a la Lookout. |

good insight there ironcladlou. i'm a foldershare.com user too, but I've always found it confusing. I'm hoping msft will simplify it a bit.
After 24 hours with the messenger beta, I've had 1 restart of the app. I also submitted a syntax-type bug, and in doing so saw some great feedback on their beta feedback site. msft really has their stuff together on gathering feedback on this product. |

If I could make just one request, it would be the option to view messages with the text in-line with the handle:
Instead of- Handle: blah blah blah blah Like this- Handle: blah blah blah blah As I look at my conversations between Yahoo! IM and MSN Messenger, there is a huge savings in space by formatting this way. |
