Netscape 8 breaks Microsoft browser | |

Microsoft has warned users that the new Netscape 8 browser will not work properly with Internet Explorer on their desktops. Microsoft said Netscape 8, launched earlier this month, broke the XML rendering capabilities in Internet Explorer, and installing it would cause IE to render XML files as a blank page. Users often like to have more than one browser on their desktops, particularly users who require access to different features. The XML problem is said to affect IE 6 and could also affect earlier versions of the Microsoft browser. Microsoft is currently developing IE 7 with extra security features. Microsoft is still investigating the problem and working with Netscape to resolve it. | ||

If Microsoft releases a patch that breaks FireFox let me know. Until then I'm not sure I know what you are talking about. |

#3, ahh come on.... you know full well that the alliance certified MS's WPA2 implementation and that just as soon as the alliance finalizes additions to the spec, that MS will modify its implementation. Further, MS has made using WPA-PSK with TKIP as easy for users as WEP is - providing security and ease of use in a compliant client.
As interesting as the migration towards WPA2 is, it's not relevant to the article. #1, Given the extraordinary diversity and software and hardware the are compatible with the Windows platform, I'm not sure I exactly understand the medicine you're speaking of. I souldn't think any breakage would be intentional. |

| Everybody needs to play by the same rules. Netscape should fix their product if it breaks an existing app. The same goes for Microsoft updates. If one were to break a third-party product then Microsoft is obligated to fix the update. |
