Users urged to apply patch immediately Microsoft has warned of a flaw in its Windows operating system that could be exploited by hackers to remotely run malicious applications on a victim's PC. The Redmond giant explained that the remote code execution vulnerability, which it rates "maximum severity rating: important", concerns the way that Web View in Windows Explorer handles certain HTML characters in preview fields. | ||

| This is somewhat typical, although this is a particularly bad misrepresentation to get more attention. "Maximum" in this case means maximum potential impact, not that it has been assigned the highest level of severity. "Important" is actually a lower security rating; "critical" is the highest, and has been issued before. This really shoots VNUNet's credibility in the foot. |
